Short Film Project Stillstand:ing
Annika Hakala, originally from Finland and now know for the past 10 years as the “Finnish Viennese”, has been travelling the world for 16 years, both as part of large show groups and with her solo performances. She has appeared in many national and international variety houses, theatres and stage productions. Annika holds an academic degree in social sciences, but she has dedicated her life to art and culture, turning her childhood hobby into a career in circus arts. Her fascination with film and video projects has developed over the last few years through short independent video projects. The big inspiration and help is her partner in crime Georg Froschauer, who completed media technology i.e. digital arts studies at University of Applied Science of Upper Austria Hagenberg.
In early 2022 during the longest lockdown phase in Austria, Annika got the idea of a short film, in which she wanted to combine her passion in circus arts and her new crush in video productions with storytelling. She was able to realise the project with the help of BMKÖS Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport. The realisation of the project took place at the end of 2022 and in 2023.
Stillstand:ing is an experimental short film presented by modern circus technique on aerial silks. The film provides insight into a circus performer’s mind during an era of challenges. Duration: 5 min.
The film is being submitted to different film festivals in 2024 and will be public on a video screening platform in 2025.
